Hoods/balaclavas

This particular method may be a little warm depending on the thickness of the material. You could make your own hood using the many patterns out there. Full-head hoods can be found in costume shops. Some dance shops may have sleeved or sleeveless hoods.

From 'Cheaper Than Dirt' comes a listing of balaclavas and hoods that could be used. Look under Cothing - http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/

Matrices' method of using a balaclava - http://www.matrices.net/balaclava.asp

This conversation started when Brokken mentioned that he used a hood for his Yowly suit. These are open-face hoods that go down to the neck, with a neckpiece, commonly found in costume shops.

(boogi) Brokken, you made Yowly's head with a hood as the understructure, with foam on it. There's two different kinds of hoods that I've seen. A thicker nylon and a thinner cotton one. Which one did you use?

(Brokken) Either will work. I prefer the thinner nylon, but Hiko's head was done on top of a cotton one.

(boogi) What did you use for gluing the foam to the hood?

(Brokken) Super77…

* boogi chuckles - thin or thick hood and super77… Will do on that one, Brokken. Thanks.

(boogi) Also, how thick foam did you use?

(Brokken) You can use foam of any thickness. Please note that on the FAQ as well.
