These people are mainly a crafts mailorder house, which have just about everything you want. They've got an unusual item for lifecasting, which can be reused many times, unlike alginate. You are better off getting plaster bandages from a medical supply house.

ONE NOTE: Do *NOT* buy the casting material called 'body pARTs,' which is a canister containing some cheap plaster and a little bit of VERY expensive, VERY poor quality alginate (which smells, oddly enough, like cinnamon). The stuff mixes very poorly and forms a non-uniform casting that's alternately chunky and watery. Bad news. Stick with Pink House alginates or the stuff you con local dental supply stores into selling you :).

The best thing is to invest in some Alginate to make the mold from. A place that I highly recommend is known as “Pink House Studios.” They have one of the best instructional tapes for the novice that I have seen in my years of practice in this field.

Their tape “Better head molds from life” costs US$49.95 + S&H. Plus… they also carry all the supplies you need to create the best molds and prosthetics for costuming you may ever need. Give them a call, and get their catalog/listing of all they carry.

They have all supplies you need for lifecasting, including alginate that sets in up to 8 minutes, as well as plaster bandages and alginate retarder and bonding agent. Their moulage and flex wax you can reuse many times for many lifecasting sessions. If you want to get everything from one place, there's the Professional Face Casting Kit. They also have the acrylic monomer mentioned in Raven's Fang FAQ in Section 27.

Locally
Look around the phone book under Dental Supply, and call around. There may be some places that require you to be a dentist (or know one) to get their products. There's various brands and sets out there. Regular set can do ok, though it maybe too fast, unless you use *COLD* water! [hehe] Ah… Now you can listen to the surprised screams of your model!

Costume shops can at times have all that you need.

Plaster bandages
You can usually find these at your local medical supply store, paying around $30-40 a case of 3“ or 4” wide fast set. Do NOT get the stuff from the craft stores, Rigid Wrap, as those set too slowly, and they're actually more expensive than the fast set!

Ultracal 30
U.S. Gypsum makes this, and you will have to call their 1-800 number to find a source close to you. A local source will usually have a 100 pound bag, which will be about $20-30. You're the one that's gonna have to lug the thing from your car to your house, though. It would help to have two people moving it.
